I wrote this letter to President Bush several weeks ago and then wondered if I should send it. I waited and decided to pray about it to be certain I should. It still has not been sent to him so I thought I would post it on my blog to see if anyone would read it and respond to it. If I get feed back I will send it on, depending on the response from the public.
President Bush,
Like myself, many Evangelical Christians thought you would be outspoken regarding your faith in your 2nd term. We thought this would be a great opportunity for you to lead this nation back to righteousness. Do not think that I speak in human terms of a Theocracy; I speak of a nation of righteous people who think more highly of their neighbors than of themselves. I speak of a nation of people who love and honor God in all their affairs, a nation of people who act righteously bringing the blessings of God on the land rather than His wrath. You are such a burden on my heart, because I see my brothers and sisters in Christ who once supported you turning against you. I see them beginning to wonder about your relationship with our Lord. I see them wondering if they made a mistake in judgment about you. Proverbs 16:7 says; when a man's ways are pleasing to the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him. I have heard you say that you do not pay attention to polls, but perhaps you should. The Republicans in Congress are in rebellion against you, instead of them standing behind you and supporting your agenda they are against everything you attempt to do and openly criticize you. The Democrats are more vicious and hateful than ever. I don’t think in all my years I have seen a presidency in as much chaos as yours. I am reminded of Saul the first king of Israel who disobeyed a direct command from God concerning the Amalekites. It is a long story but you would do well to read it.
The LORD Rejects Saul as King 15:1-26
1) Samuel said to Saul, "I am the one the LORD sent to anoint you king over his people Israel; so listen now to the message from the LORD. 2 This is what the LORD Almighty says: 'I will punish the Amalekites for what they did to Israel when they waylaid them as they came up from Egypt. 3 Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy everything that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.' " 4 So Saul summoned the men and mustered them at Telaim—two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand men from Judah. 5 Saul went to the city of Amalek and set an ambush in the ravine. 6 Then he said to the Kenites, "Go away, leave the Amalekites so that I do not destroy you along with them; for you showed kindness to all the Israelites when they came up out of Egypt." So the Kenites moved away from the Amalekites. 7 Then Saul attacked the Amalekites all the way from Havilah to Shur, to the east of Egypt. 8 He took Agag king of the Amalekites alive, and all his people he totally destroyed with the sword. 9 But Saul and the army spared Agag and the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat calves and lambs—everything that was good. These they were unwilling to destroy completely, but everything that was despised and weak they totally destroyed. 10 Then the word of the LORD came to Samuel: 11 "I am grieved that I have made Saul king, because he has turned away from me and has not carried out my instructions." Samuel was troubled, and he cried out to the LORD all that night.
12 Early in the morning Samuel got up and went to meet Saul, but he was told, "Saul has gone to Carmel. There he has set up a monument in his own honor and has turned and gone on down to Gilgal." 13 When Samuel reached him, Saul said, "The LORD bless you! I have carried out the LORD's instructions." 14 But Samuel said, "What then is this bleating of sheep in my ears? What is this lowing of cattle that I hear?" 15 Saul answered, "The soldiers brought them from the Amalekites; they spared the best of the sheep and cattle to sacrifice to the LORD your God, but we totally destroyed the rest." 16 "Stop!" Samuel said to Saul. "Let me tell you what the LORD said to me last night." "Tell me," Saul replied. 17 Samuel said, "Although you were once small in your own eyes, did you not become the head of the tribes of Israel? The LORD anointed you king over Israel. 18 And he sent you on a mission, saying, 'Go and completely destroy those wicked people, the Amalekites; make war on them until you have wiped them out.' 19 Why did you not obey the LORD ? Why did you pounce on the plunder and do evil in the eyes of the LORD ?" 20 "But I did obey the LORD," Saul said. "I went on the mission the LORD assigned me. I completely destroyed the Amalekites and brought back Agag their king. 21 The soldiers took sheep and cattle from the plunder, the best of what was devoted to God, in order to sacrifice them to the LORD your God at Gilgal." 22 But Samuel replied: "Does the LORD delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the voice of the LORD ? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry. Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you as king." 24 Then Saul said to Samuel, "I have sinned. I violated the LORD's command and your instructions. I was afraid of the people and so I gave in to them. 25 Now I beg you, forgive my sin and come back with me, so that I may worship the LORD." 26 But Samuel said to him, "I will not go back with you. You have rejected the word of the LORD, and the LORD has rejected you as king over Israel!"
Has God rejected you as President over this land? Have you failed by not utterly destroying Bin Laden and all who follow him? I have waited, as you preached tolerance, waited to see the moderate Muslims you are so convinced exist. It as been 5 years since 9/11 and the moderate Muslims are still invisible. When polled, 70-80 percent of the Muslim world look upon Bin Laden as a hero, They do not demonstrate against terrorism, but they demonstrate and burn and destroy because of a cartoon. As long as they fail to speak out against terrorism and they continue to protect and hide these evil man as well as their followers, men like Bin Laden, Zarqawi, and Zawahiri, wicked and evil men who need to be captured and punished or destroyed before they destroy more of us how can we believe they are moderate?
Where is the strength of your faith, is it just grounded in words only or do you not know that the God of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob is the God we serve, the God who directed the stone from the sling of David the king when he overcame the Philistines? David said it rightly” 2 Sam 17:47 “Then all this assembly shall know that the Lord does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the Lords, and He will give you into our hands”. Do you not know that the God we serve laid down His life for the elect, and took it up again and is seated on His throne in heaven? Are you not aware that God is not impotent? Honor God, President Bush and He will honor you. Do not fear the people, but fear God(no more political correctness, please ). Will your legacy be that you did not walk with the Lord? You have 2 1/2 years left to serve. Serve God and watch your legacy soar to heights unimaginable. In 2 Chronicles 7:13 -14 God says; If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
Above are some images I think you should see. They are from a “peaceful” demonstration of Muslims in London . As you view these images I pray you will determine to return to the Lord with all your heart. Do not fear the people, do not worry about consequences from the people of this country or any other it is the LORD our God that you serve, He puts up kings and take them down. Please Him and others will be pleased. Bring righteousness to our land or God may bring judgment on it. I still support you and believe you could go down in history as one of the greatest Presidents our country has known; a man who has led this land back to God. If not you might go down in history as the worst President second only to Jimmy Carter.
A faithful servant of God
